When Canadian multinational Alcan ceased its Caribbean operations in 1987, Lloyd and Shirley Voisin seized the opportunity to acquire its Trinidad branch, Sprostons Limited — their long-time employer. Having met at Sprostons, where Lloyd served as a Boarding Clerk and Shirley as an Accounting Clerk, they combined their expertise, dedication, and entrepreneurial spirit to establish Gulf Shipping Limited. Gulf has evolved into a respected leader in the regional shipping industry. In 2016, we expanded our services with the launch of a dedicated customs brokerage and logistics house, and in 2018, we extended our footprint to Guyana. Today, their daughters, Tessa and Sonja, continue to lead the company with the same commitment to excellence and innovation. The third generation has also joined the business, actively contributing to its continued growth and success — ensuring that the Voisin legacy remains strong for decades to come.
